This Week in Court 8/29/16

We argued a very good suppression motion related to the execution of a search warrant in a Firearm By Felon case. Had one of the most respected Superior Court Judges hear it. He is taking it under advisement, which means he will rule on motion in the near future.

I saw the State prosecute a man for a bit of heroin that was in another man’s sock. The “war” on Drugs is tired, broken, and needs to be replaced with a model focused on treatment and rehabilitation.

I saw the court system strive to get better in their handling of mentally ill individuals. We still have a long way to go, but it was promising to see a Judge, defense attorney, and probation officer all work to help a person get the mental health treatment they desparately need.
