Court musings 9-15-17

Had an opportunity to participate in a day of service at the courthouse yesterday and it filled me with optimism and the realization that it is an imperative for Criminal Defense Attorneys to work to provide access and fight for the oppressed people in our society.

We continue to suffer with police making arrests and stops for illegitimate and racially biased reasons. We continue to suffer in a system that is cold and heartless.

All of the actors in the Criminal Justice System (Judges, Prosecutors, Officers, Defense Attorney’s, Probation Officers, courthouse deputies, clerks, bondspersons) would better serve our community by practicing empathy on a regular basis.
